EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGY

Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEPs) AEPs are university qualified allied health professionals equipped with the knowledge, skills and competencies to design, deliver and evaluate safe and effective exercise interventions for people with acute, sub-acute or chronic medical conditions, injuries or disabilities. Pathology domains covered by the services of AEPs include cardiovascular, metabolic, neurological, musculoskeletal, cancers, kidney, respiratory / pulmonary and mental health, and any other conditions for which there is evidence that exercise can improve the client’s clinical status. Each exercise program is tailored to the client and is designed to improve your condition and quality of life. As clients improve the exercises will match their progression.

Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA) is the peak professional body and sole accrediting authority for Accredited Exercise Physiologists.

WORKCOVER QUEENSLAND

Allied health providers (Exercise Physiologists), play a vital role in helping workers stay at or return to work after an injury. Allied health providers:

  • treat and manage the clinical care of the injury/illness

  • make a significant contribution to improving health and return to work outcomes, under the direction of the treating medical practitioner.

Before an Allied Health provider can provide any medical treatment, the worker must have a current medical certificate or have been referred by a registered medical practitioner.

Organising treatment remains the responsibility of the treating medical practitioner.
